Phil Galfond is a three-time World Series of Poker winner and owner of the online poker site, Run It Once (RIO). In 2019, Galfond announced “The Galfond Challenge, “a series of high-stakes heads-up Pot-Limit Omaha (PLO) games to be played on RIO against some of the best players in the world.

CHALLENGE

RIO had an amazing opportunity via The Galfond Challenge to promote their new poker site, but didn’t know the optimal way to integrate Twitch and YouTube into their overall marketing strategy.

The team knew poker training, but not the intricacies organizing and promoting a content series like The Galfond Challenge. Unlike typical online poker games, The Galfond Challenge involved many people and many moving parts behind the scenes.

SOLUTION

Clavis was brought on board because of the team’s institutional knowledge of online gaming, as well as online digital strategy. Not only did Clavis help optimize RIO’s Twitch channel to maximize views and viewer engagement, but also lent expertise to RIO’s YouTube content and Open Broadcaster Software (OBS) strategies.

Additionally, Clavis supported in stream promotions and giveaways during the Challenge and helped to lay the blueprint for ongoing macro social media strategies.
